Training 07 December 2008

7 December 2008

Joint Training with Inverness

A pleasant surprise to find today’s Rope Rescue training was with the Inverness team. They provide flank support to us, and have always responded to cliff incidents with us in the past, when we were a smaller team. Even though we are only 2 short of our full establishment, they continue to support us, and it’s always useful to practice with another team.

Location

With the kind agreement of the RSPB, we were at Fairy Glen today, doing descents and recovery over the edge close by the top waterfall.

Activity

A good area to practice with some steep descents, and good areas to rig for recovery. Most team members got an opportunity to go over, with a wide range of roles being practiced.

We were practicing Immediate Rescue and Indirect Recovery, with and without quadpod support, swapping roles half way through the practice.

A cup of coffee and a sandwich was welcome at the break, and both teams agreed that this was an interesting site to practice in. I understand that the Inverness team are interested in some swift water practice.
